A one-day workshop on Hands-on-Training on NAAC Methodology and Preparation, sponsored by the department of Higher Education, and organized by Women’s College, Calcutta was held at college premises on 9 January 2024. The programme was initiated by the lighting of the lamp by Prof Sougata Roy, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament and President of college Governing Body, Sri Joydeep Mukhopadhyay IAS, Senior Special Secretary and HED RUSA, IT Cell, and Dr Asish Kumar Ghosh (JDPI). Following the felicitation of the dignitaries, the Principal of the college Dr Anupama Chowdhury delivered the welcome address.
She thanked Higher Education Department for sponsoring the Seminar and extended her sincere gratitude to all dignitaries and officials of Higher Education Department, West Bengal. In his presidential address, Prof Sougata Roy underscored the importance of NAAC
in making an assessment of the achievements of the college through NAAC. He also pointed out the importance of NEP. Sri Jaydeep Mukhopadhyay discussed how the Government of West Bengal has taken up the challenge to achieve a hundred per cent NAAC accreditation for the colleges in the state. In order to facilitate the process, they have evolved the mentor-mentee system at state, district and university levels which would bring the colleges under constant guidance and support.
pointed out how a good mind-set and team effort has brought satisfactory results in both the rural and urban colleges in the last one year. Dr Asis Ghosh said that the self-assessment is of utmost importance, the opportunity of which is created by NAAC. He also mentioned how keeping records of all documents would become extremely important for the colleges. The first session ended with the felicitation of the mentors: Sri Debashish Biswas, Inspector of Colleges, CU, University level Mentor, Dr Jaydeep Sarangi, Principal, New Alipore College, State level Mentor, Dr Samrat Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, Scottish Church College, District level Mentor.He
After the inaugural session the participating colleges (36 in number including the host college) were divided into three groups for technical sessions. In these sessions detailed criterion-wise analyses was done and the strength and weaknesses of each college was discussed at length. The post lunch valedictory session was chaired by Dr Sharmila Mitra (Principal, Behala College). The other dignitaries present were: Dr Shyamalendu Chatterjee, Retired Principal, Chittaranjan College, and the mentors, Dr Jaydeep Sarangi, Dr Debasish Biswas and Dr Samrat Bhattacharjee.
The rising importance of NAAC in the context of NEP and the practical aspects of NAAC visit were pointed out. Special importance was given to internship programmes, add-on courses, LMS systems, regular monitoring of UGC web sites, setting up of incubation centres, beefing up of data collection procedures and student loans for new start-up and so on. The session was then made open for question answer and followed by sharing of experience of NAAC visit by colleges. The day closed with a vote of thanks given by Dr Sukla Ghosh, IQAC coordinator of Women’s College, Calcutta. In their feedbacks, the participating colleges stated that these hands-on-training workshops were beneficial to all and more such programmes would be of much help.

पश्चिम बंग उच्च शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा प्रायोजित एक- दिवसीय कार्यशाला “HANDS ON TRAINING OF NAAC METHODOLOGY AND PREPARATION” का आयोजन वुमेंस कॉलेज, कलकत्ता द्वारा दिनांक 09.01.2024 को किया गया | पश्चिम बंग उच्च शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा पूरे राज्य के विभिन्न प्रान्तों में आयोजित इस तरह की कार्यशालाओं व संगोष्ठियों का एकमात्र लक्ष्य सभी महाविद्यालयों में ‘NAAC’ प्रक्रिया को सुचारू रूप से संपन्न करवाना है | जिससे राज्य के सभी महाविद्यालय आधिकारिक तौर पर यू.जी.सी. द्वारा निर्दिष्ट मानदंडों को सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण कर सकें | इस कार्यक्रम में प्रमुख अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित थे-- वुमेन्स कॉलेज, कलकत्ता के माननीय सभापति श्री सौगत राय महोदय (सांसद, पश्चिम बंग राज्य सरकार), विशिष्ट अतिथि श्री जयदीप मुखोपाध्याय (आई.ए.एस.अधिकारी, वरिष्ठ सचिव, उच्च शिक्षा विभाग, रूसा, आई.टी. सेल, पश्चिम बंग राज्य सरकार), डॉ. आशीष कुमार घोष (जॉइंट डी.पी.आई., पश्चिम बंग उच्च शिक्षा विभाग), डॉ. शर्मिला मित्र (प्रिंसिपल, बेहाला कॉलेज) | इसके अतिरिक्त विषय विशेषज्ञ के रूप में उपस्थित थे-- प्रो. देवाशीष विश्वास (यूनिवर्सिटी लेवल मेंटर, इंस्पेक्टर ऑफ कॉलेज, कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय), डॉ जयदीप सारंगी (स्टेट लेवल मेंटर, प्रिंसिपल, न्यू अलीपुर कॉलेज), डॉ सम्राट भट्टाचार्य (डिस्ट्रिक्ट लेवल मेंटर ऑफ ‘NAAC’, एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर, स्कॉटिश चर्च कॉलेज) | इस महत्वपूर्ण एवं बहुप्रतीक्षित कार्यशाला में उत्तर कलकत्ता के कुल 36 महाविद्यालयों ने प्रतिभागिता दर्ज की | विभिन्न महाविद्यालयों के प्रधानाचार्य, आई.क्यू.ए.सी. संयोजक तथा ‘NAAC’ संयोजकों ने इसमें सक्रिय हिस्सा लिया | उपस्थित परामर्शदाताओं के कुशल नेतृत्व तथा निर्देशन में आयोजित यह कार्यक्रम राज्य स्तर पर सभी महाविद्यालयों के लिए विशेष रूप से लाभप्रद सिद्ध हुआ है | उल्लेखित प्रवक्ताओं ने ‘NAAC’ के लिए आवश्यक ‘विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग’ द्वारा निर्धारित मानदंडों पर विस्तार से चर्चा की | उन्होंने सम्मिलित रूप से सात महत्वपूर्ण ‘CRITERION’ के विविध पक्षों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए उचित मार्गदर्शन भी किया | कार्यक्रम संयोजक डॉ. अनुपमा चौधरी (प्रिंसिपल, वुमेन्स कॉलेज, कलकत्ता) ने इस कार्यशाला को सुव्यवस्थित आकार देने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका का निर्वाह किया | कार्यक्रम की सुनियोजित रूपरेखा तैयार करने तथा उसके क्रियान्वयन में डॉ. शुक्ला घोष (संयोजिका, आई.क्यू.ए.सी. एंड टीम) सहित समस्त शिक्षक-वृन्द तथा अशैक्षिक कर्मचारियों का विशेष योगदान रहा है | प्रधानाचार्य डॉ. अनुपमा चौधरी ने इस कार्यक्रम में सम्मिलित सभी सम्मानित शिक्षाविदों का हार्दिक स्वागत करते हुए उन्हें धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया हैं | साथ ही उन्होंने यह आशा व्यक्त की है कि इस तरह के आयोजनों द्वारा पश्चिम बंग राज्य का प्रत्येक महाविद्यालय शीघ्रातिशीघ्र ‘NAAC’ के अनिवार्य मानदंडों को पूर्ण करने में सफलता प्राप्त करेगा तथा यू.जी.सी. द्वारा उच्च-स्तरीय स्तर पर मूल्यांकित किया जायेगा | उन्होंने पश्चिम बंग राज्य सरकार एवं उच्च शिक्षा विभाग के प्रति अपनी कृतज्ञता ज्ञापित की जिनके परस्पर सहयोग व प्रेरणा द्वारा उन्हें इस तरह का वृहत् कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने का अवसर प्रदान किया गया | तत्पश्चात उन्होंने उपस्थित सभी सम्मानित प्रवक्ताओं के प्रति अपना आभार व्यक्त किया जिनके निर्देशन में कार्यक्रम का कुशल संचालन किया गया | अंत में समस्त प्रतिभागियों को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए उन्होंने अपने महाविद्यालय के समस्त शिक्षाकर्मी और अशैक्षिक कर्मचारियों के प्रति हार्दिक धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया है जिनके सम्मिलित प्रयासों से ही इस कार्यक्रम को सफल रूप देना संभव हो सका है | दिनांक- 10.01.2024 को वासंती देवी कॉलेज, में दक्षिण कलकत्ता के महाविद्यालयों के लिए पुनः इस तरह की कार्यशाला आयोजित होने वाली है |
